Lassie ring was developed by F. Rasching in 1914. It is the first invention of a kind of bulk packing with fixed geometry. Its shape is simple and its height is equal to its diameter. Large size rassier ring (over 100mm) is generally filled in a regular manner by integral masonry, while the rassier ring below 75mm is generally filled in a disorderly manner. The metal RASI ring is widely used in many fields, but its main application field is as catalyst support.
